We measure what you actually have, work through the details that decide how a room lives — where the light falls, how the doors swing, what goes where — and can put it on paper as a rendering.

You look at the picture, change what you want changed, and only then do we start. It is cheaper to move a wall in a drawing than after it is framed.

About us

The person behind the license.

Owner-led — Val is on your job, not just on the contract

RNDLine is run by Val. He grew up in Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia, and came to California for the same reason people have been coming here for four hundred years — to live and believe freely.

He has been building since 2002. His first years in the States he spent on American job sites, learning how things get framed, inspected and signed off here — which is not how it is done back home. Then he sat the contractor's exam, got his California license, and in 2025 started RNDLine.

The work now is mostly kitchens and baths, whole-house remodels and ADUs, around Sacramento, where he lives with his wife and four daughters.

Rostov-oN-Don is shortened to RND in Russian — the city Val is from. In English the same three letters read as R&D, research and development, which turned out to fit: twenty years of building on two continents means rethinking how a thing goes together every time. And the Line is the one that runs back to where he started.

What homeowners ask us first.

The things worth knowing before you hand your house to a contractor.

How long will my kitchen or bathroom be out of use?

It depends on the scope — a bathroom with a new tub surround is a different job than a kitchen with walls coming out. You get a written schedule with your estimate, before anything is demolished, so you know what you are planning around.

Who handles the permits?

We do. We prepare the submittal, pull the permit and schedule the inspections. You do not deal with the building department.

Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?

Our own people do the carpentry, framing and finish work. Licensed specialty trades come in where the job calls for it — and we manage them, so you have one point of contact instead of three.

What happens if the price changes partway through?

Nothing gets added to your bill without your written approval first. If we open a wall and find rot, old wiring or a leak, we stop, show you what we found, and price the fix as a change order. You decide before we continue.

What about the mess?

Work areas are contained and the site is cleaned at the end of each working day. Debris is hauled off, not left in your driveway for the length of the project.

Is the work guaranteed?

Workmanship terms are written into your contract, and manufacturer warranties on materials and fixtures pass to you. Ask us to walk through both during the estimate — it should be in writing, not a handshake.

Do I need drawings before you can give an estimate?

No. Bring whatever you have — a plan set, a screenshot, or just an idea. If the project needs drawings, we will tell you what is required and handle that part too.

How do I check that you are licensed?

Look up CSLB #1155926 at cslb.ca.gov. It shows the license status, classification and bond. Do this for every contractor you talk to, not just us.

Do you speak Russian? / Вы говорите по-русски?

Yes. You can go through the whole project in Russian — the estimate, the questions, the day-to-day on site.
